In today’s world, it isn’t enough to simply create and publish original content. If you want to reach the widest audience possible, you should be trying to turn your readers into your distributors. In other words, you need to create high-quality content that your audience will want to share on social media. Creating sharable content, however, can be a challenge. Here are some tips for producing content that your readers will want to share with their friends.

Don’t be afraid of graphics.

Never underestimate how effective a well-done visual can be. If your content includes an eye-catching graphic image, it’s much more likely to be shared on social media—and other internet users are more likely to click on it. Graphic features such as infographics can also be an effective way to make complex and difficult subjects more accessible to your readers.

Write a memorable headline.

If the blog headline you write for your next blog post is bland, vague, or difficult to understand, it probably won’t inspire many people to click on the link. Study the most successful blogs and notice how the headlines are written. Headlines that call the reader to action, such as “Don’t make these common mistakes,” are most likely to get clicks.

Keep it positive.

What matters most isn’t the topic you’re writing about—it’s how you frame it. As a rule, we tend to gravitate toward concepts and messages that make us feel good about ourselves. If you’re writing about depression, for example, you might frame it in a positive way by focusing on effective ways to treat depression.

Be as succinct as possible.

The shorter, punchier, and more concise your content is, the more likely it is that a visitor to your site will actually pause long enough to read it. Short paragraphs, bullet points, and lists will all make your content easier for a visitor to skim, which means that they’ll be more likely to get the point and want to pass it on to others.
